This form of cancer typically begins in the breast area and is detected as a small lump. This lump grows at a variable rate, sometimes slow and sometimes quickly, and can spread the disease to other parts of the body. Although causes for the disease are not known specifically, several key factors have emerged. According to AstraZeneca (2003), one out of every 10 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives. For most women, this happens in their later years, typically the following menopause.
